Collage as an Extension of Theatre
{LEARN MORE}

The retrospective exhibition Collage as an Extension of Theatre presents the work of Aleksandr Dmitrievich Samodurov, whose activities go beyond the boundaries of a single profession and area of art. As an artist, director, scriptwriter and artistic director in different periods, he moves freely through the territory of art, discovering new facets of familiar things.

Collage in the artistic work of Aleksandr Dmitrievich becomes an organic continuation of theatre, in which everyone plays their specific role. Just like a director builds the general composition of theatrical characters that create the dramaturgy of the theatre, an artist, connecting multiple fragments in a single work, creates the narrative of each work.

The exhibition includes works created by the artist at different stages of his creative activity: from theatre posters and graphic works of the 1970s to collages of the present time. The exhibition project also includes archival photo materials and video interviews with the artist.
